This is a strong thriller, and a great introduction to Nick Heller. He's a problem solver, and is a hero in the vein of Lee Child's Jack Reacher and Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp. I got my hands on an early copy of Buried Secrets, the next installment, and it delivers. This is a series to watch.

Steinhauer is quickly vaunting to the top of my 'must read' list; THE TOURIST was great; NEAREST EXIT is a terrific read, and hero/anti-hero Milo Weaver is fascinating.

In some ways both a love-letter to New York City, as well as a fascinating look at four intertwined lives, I was pleasantly surprised by this understated film. Filled with both funny and affecting moments, this poorly titled film is definitely worth watching. I don't think Billy Crudup has ever been better and the rest of the cast also shines.

This isn't the best documentary by any stretch, but for those who love Scrabble, it's time well-spent. The extras on the DVD are also highly entertaining. The world of tournament Scrabble, circa 2001 - 4, might not be a timeless topic, but Scrabble is an endlessly fascinating game, and this look at four top-ranked tournament players is interesting.

The basic plot: he's been sentenced and must report to prison to begin in sentence, but he doesn't have to report until tomorrow. What would you do with your last day of freedom? Well-written, the story never flags. And it was made into a pretty decent movie with Ed Norton.
