This is a beautiful animation film that gets two very big thumbs up from me! The artistry is breathtaking, and in particular, the characters' animation, use of color, texture, and lighting are truly masterful. A post-apocalyptic world theme isn't uncommon, especially these days, but this film provides a unique perspective that's both frightening and heartwarming. I was continually on the edge of my seat to find out what would happen next all the way through to the end.

This is Shane Acker's first full-length film, based on the animated short he created as the final thesis project for his grad school, which was nominated for an Academy Award. An outstanding cast of Hollywood stars lends their vocal talents, and the always-amazing Danny Elfman does a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. If you get the DVD, be sure to check out the extras, too, especially if you love CGI art. I can't wait to see what else Acker will do.
