I have been waiting... and waiting... and waiting.... Let's hope they don't miss the mark on this one. Also, XIV is already under development; it's another MMORPG. Oh, joy. :| Incidentally, get this on the PS3. Square has been loyal to Sony for quite some time, so it stands to reason that between the Xbox and PS3 versions, the PS3 version will be superior.

The Tiger Lillies have the uncanny ability much like the Cure to sing songs with depressing, morose lyrics in such a way that you're tapping your foot and dancing in your seat. They are truly brilliant.

A great text for those studying games and new literacies.

(Interesting... there are two entries for the game on Glue: "Heavy Rain" and "Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer". Huh.)
Anyway, amazing game, amazing story, pushes boundaries, not for the weak of heart or kids. Can't say enough good things about this game.
We've all killed in games before... but never before has it felt like such a terrible thing to do. Unreal. - Ryan on February 28, 2010 at 11:13pmRyan liked and commented on Sony timer on en.wikipedia.org
Wonder if they'll lock this page down after the PS3 crash on 3/1, haha. (This is a joke...)

The writing is enjoyable, even if the Christian existentialism is a bit off.

Ever spent all day jumping on a trampoline, only to go to bed that night and feel like you're still bouncing? Yeah, that's this.

- Ryan on February 24, 2010 at 3:43pmRyan favorited and commented on Final Fantasy VII on amazon.com
The video game equivalent of Helen of Troy. This is the game that launched a thousand spin-offs, fanfics, movies, and millions of fanboy arguments online. Let's not forget the cosplayers, too. I will be the first to admit that I'm biased: i adore this game. It's dark, intriguing, the characters are fascinatingly human (some more human than others... some less), and the jump from the SNES to the PlayStation made FFVII a singular moment in video game history. It may be cliched to be a fan of this game, but I'm okay with that.

If ever there was beauty in a game, Team Ico has produced it. The Last Guardian, I'm sure, will be no exception.
- Ryan on February 22, 2010 at 8:43amRyan commented on Kitty Genovese on en.wikipedia.org
How does one treat a topic like this? I don't dislike her; I dislike what happened to her. I don't like her death, but I like the advances in social psychology that came of it.
So...? - Ryan on February 22, 2010 at 8:17amRyan favorited and commented on Shadow of the Colossus on amazon.com
Once in a while, a game comes along that's so unlike anything else you've ever played that you almost don't know what to make of it. This is one of those games. Sixteen battles, sixteen bad guys, one boy, one girl, and one horse. One of the most beautiful games ever made.

I first heard his album (Come Feel the) Illinoise and fell instantly in love with it. I've given his other albums a cursory attempt, but none has gripped me as tightly as Illinoise. An experimental tour de force and something that should be heard by all.

The single greatest concept album ever created. It spent over 700 weeks on the Billboard Top 100 and has sold more than Madonna's entire catalog combined. It is quite literally the perfect album and will never be equaled.

Anything with Milla Jovovich is great because she's such a pleasure to watch. Gary Oldman once again plays a villain you can only describe as "delicious" and Ian Holm is always awesome. Plus, Leeloo's outfit... rawr.
Multipass! - Ryan on February 9, 2010 at 10:25amRyan liked and commented on House, M.D. on netflix.com
Best show on television right now. Surprisingly, Hugh Laurie originally auditioned for the part of Wilson. For an interesting look into the psyche of Dr. House, begin reading the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, as the character of Gregory House is based on Detective Holmes, right down to the addiction (Holmes to cocaine, House to vicodin) and their trusty sidekicks (Watson and Wilson, respectively).

I'm sorry, I'm sure it'll be a good film, but I just can't take Mel Gibson seriously anymore. He's right up there with Tom Cruise on my list. When you start shouting antisemitic drivel, you're officially done.

The brilliant and twisted creative mind behind Moral Orel. This man deserves an award. Or, rather, a collection of them.
- Ryan on February 7, 2010 at 3:48pmRyan liked and commented on Moral Orel on en.wikipedia.org
The thing that's so disturbing about Moral Orel is the all-too-frequent similarities between the citizens of Moralton and some actual conservative Christians (who will not be named). From a cutsie claymation show to a church-based acid trip, Moral Orel is one of the most interesting, original and disturbing shows to come around in a long, long time.
