Ask someone what their favorite SNES games were, and it's doubtful ActRaiser will be on that list. It's not because the game isn't good; the game is great. It just didn't get much in the way of hype or traffic. Once you mention it, though, you're usually returned with an emphatic, "Oh, man, I loved that game!!"

It's my contention that everyone who values education is, to a point, an autodidact. Though they certainly haven't spent all their time teaching themselves, they understand that a teacher is more of a guide than a source of capital-T "Truth". Unfortunately, some autodidacts tend to spend their time simply reinforcing their own biases and prejudices, never broadening their horizons.

The thing that's so disturbing about Moral Orel is the all-too-frequent similarities between the citizens of Moralton and some actual conservative Christians (who will not be named). From a cutsie claymation show to a church-based acid trip, Moral Orel is one of the most interesting, original and disturbing shows to come around in a long, long time.

I haven't laughed this hard since I first picked up a David Sedaris book. It's like listening to your slacker, drunk college buddy talk about the crazy shit that's happened to him (and why he steals salt shakers). This is absolutely hilarious. (Wife wouldn't let me read it before bed... my laughing kept her up.)
I love that they took such a messed up, dark, violent film and made it into a video game. It's so... groundbreaking! (Really, though, this game was great.)

Paulo Freire, affectionately known as the Man with the Gray Beard, managed to write an educational powerhouse that at once both angers and inspires. I attempted to tackle this text in graduate school and found that each page, possibly each paragraph, is worthy of hours upon hours of study. This is the obligatory text for any educator who cares about social justice, critical pedagogy and giving a voice to the voiceless.

Watts is amazing. This book is a must. "Take a dozen children, any children. Beat and mix thoroughly until some lumps remain. Simmer for two to three decades; bring to a slow, rolling boil. Skim off the full-blown psychotics, the schizoaffectives, the multiple personalities and discard. Let cool. Serve with dopamine garnish. What do you get? Something bent, not broken. Something that fits into cracks too twisted for the rest of us." *shiver* Man.
Though I was originally unimpressed by Moodle's user interface it's quicking growing on me. Not the interface; the CMS. Especially the integration between Moodle's grade sheet and Hot Potatoes.
