Clyde charged with murder. Rich Uncle sends a lawyer but guess whose interests that lawyer represents (hint: rich uncle)

It's that time of night & the cops are lapping at Clyde's heels

Local politicians foaming at the mouth to capture Clyde & demonstrate their talents at showy trial. Clyde should have copped a plea

OK Clyde. Are you a Killer or not? (hint: yes)

Clyde tries to run away but thoughts of murdering Roberta run after him:American Tragedy

Yes, still reading. And the suspicious drowning hasn't even happened. This is a quintessential 20th century novel: large, grand, wordy, brilliant.

Clyde thinks: hmmm, what if Roberta & I go canoeing and (accidentally on purpose) the boat turns over and one of us (Roberta) drowns.

Clyde to his deep despair sees Roberta's forlorn, wretched house; Roberta watches at a distance as Clyde chats with a wealthy girl in a flash car & flas clothes.

Poor Clyde. Poor Roberta. Poor sondra. Frankly I feel sorry for their parents too. But they're no really part of the story. And we know, it's only getting worse. :-(
