What better day to finish this book than on a Supermoon day? Espresso in hand, server franticness calmed. Ah, yes. Time for science!

Skunkie & PolyVector Finished! My next read is going to be 'Consciousness Explained' by Daniel Dennett. I really enjoyed A Briefer History of Time. I think Hawking has a great sense of humor, however slight it is in the book. Big concepts, easy to read. Will read 'Illustrated Theory of Everything' eventually.

Just going to dive right in here. Never read a book on physics, and my curiosity has really started to peak lately. Very excited to start this book finally.

So this is an updated and clarified version of the first BHOT. What would I be missing if I don't read both? (I currently am)

LauraDeSantis So far as I understand it you'd be missing only the language and the ability to say you read the original. But it's so outdated I'm going to stick with this version :)

It's so amazing that I don't understand half of it!

This "briefer" version is not dumbed down in any way either- instead it hones in on the most essential concepts & describes them as understandably as possible. This is quite a feat- to make physics, relativity and string theory accessible to general readers. In the forward the authors also say they have updated this version to reflect the latest theoretical knowledge about these concepts. I am enjoying reading it immensely and expanding my introductory knowledge on the subject immensely. Highly recommended.

Reading "A Briefer History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. Brilliant, concise & incredibly fascinating book about time, space & how the universe works. #science
