Reading this a second time. There is so much to absorb! An hour or so in and I'm just as hooked as I was on the first read. The history of the disease, and the history of our search for cures to its various manifestations, is truly compelling reading. Couple that with the anecdotes and personal reflections of the author, and you have a work that is very hard to lay aside.

As much as I like the book I can't help but wished he had put down his theraurus. Most writers would have.

Picked this up randomly on Saturday and now I can't put it down. I have never considered cancer the way that it's described and brought to life by Mukherjee (I'm incredibly NON-medical). If I could sum this book up in one word it would be Nutritious. Put it on your list of books to read this year!

Fantastic book written like a historical thriller!

While the subject of this book seems daunting, the author has made the science and history of cancer readable and accessible.
