And here I stop. I cannot read this book.

Calysta Rose I read the previous two and greatly enjoyed them for the most part. There were two things I didn't care for with Endymion. First person POV writing is not my favorite and it was one of the things in Fall of Hyperion that, in my opinion, somewhat weakened the story. However, with FoH the first person POV at least served a purpose and was contrasted by typical 3rd person POV in the rest of the book. What made me give up on Endymion entirely, however, was the far too vivid descriptions of the duck hunt and what happened to Endymion's dog. That, plus the knowledge that once again I would have to tolerate the completely unlikable Martin Silenus ended my interest in the book. -
Marc Mosher As an animal lover the duck hunt scene was certainly hard to stomach, for sure. Not a terribly big fan of 1st person either, but so far I'm liking the book better than you did I guess - though I'm not to far into it, right around the meeting with ancient Silenus and his mission. -
Calysta Rose I'm glad you're enjoying it, I wish that I could. I suppose, also, part of the problem was the narrator's voice (Endymion I mean) didn't draw me in. I would have rather started with Aenea's story/POV. And Martin Silenus remains a huge hurdle for me, I disliked him that intensely.
