What unites them is an almost reckless desire to test themselves in the most extreme circumstances. In many respects the life they have chosen is a complete rejection of the hyped, consumerist American dream as it is dishe out in reality-TV and pop songs. Theyve chosen asceticism over consumption. Instead of celebrating their individualism, they've subjugated theirs to the collective will of an institution. Their highest aspiration is self sacrifice iver self preservation.

Today is the day for finishing this book. Out of power :/

I WILL FINALLY FINISH YOU!!!! lol. this book is fantastic (and the HBO miniseries compliments very well) the writing style is fluid and enjoyable. Not too weighty with informational paragraphs, such circumstantial detail is woven into the prose.

Due to family issues, I haven't had much time to read. I shall finish this soon hopefully.

I read about two pages last night thanks to my headache. Totally fitting in at least four chapters tonight then.

Going to try to read some before bed despite this ridiculous headache. :(
