A veces cuando se habla de ciencia ficcion parece que no hablemos de literatura, al menos seguro que no es este caso. Un gran libro de ciencia ficción apocaliptica y oscura con uan estructura narrativa del estilo de los Cuentos de Canterbury. Recomendado.

Ouch, the story of Rachel Weintraub tears at my heart. And while I understand Sol's conclusion about Abraham's sacrifice & so forth, I cannot agree with it.

I'm loving this book so much. Dan Simmons has to be one of the most versatile authors I've ever read. So lucky to have won this in a competition. Great read.

Challenging sci-fi requires patience and constant attention as you wait for all the pieces of Dan Simmons' complex narrative to connect. But they connect brilliantly. The premise -- seven pilgrims set off in search of a creature called the Shrike -- is a solid framework for a series of stories that brilliantly flesh out Simmons' elaborate universe, which includes the mysterious planet Hyperion. Thoughtful fiction includes nods to Chaucer, Keats and even The Wizard of Oz.

I can see the fascination with this book. Reads like a futuristic Canterbury Tales (stories within a story) and there are similarities between the two novels (a group of people, each with their own dark secret, undergoing a pilgrimage). The characters are well-developed and intriguing. Truly a sci-fi classic.

Carlos Heras Faus Totally agree, this is one of those sci-fi books that a fan could enjoy it the same as a hardie fan. And one of those novels not to think about it so much as a sci-fi novel as a novel ( without the tag )
