Did finally finish this one, I think. Want to read one of his others soon, just not yet. Need to balance science with something else. In this case, some late 19th-century American history.

I am in the home stretch. Just started the first chapter in the third part of the book, on black holes and alternate universes. I loved his description on the life of a star on pp. 217-222, black holes on pp.222-224, and his discussion on Einstein-Rosen bridges starting on pg. 224 of the 1995 paperback edition. A great book.

Think it is time to end the day with some more of this book. I wonder if I will make it through the chapter in superstring theory tonight?

Wow. I'm just about halfway through now. The book is actually quite interesting, and has definitely been written with the non-scientist/mathemetician in mind. Worth a look. Starting Chapter 6.
