Awesome collection of short stories that inspired The Witcher games!

Picked up Witcher 2 for the Xbox, then downloaded Witcher 1 for the PC, and now pausing my reading of Game of Thrones for this. Such an interesting universe and story.

A little Witcher literature to go with the RPG.

I played through The Witcher, and even saw the European television series that wasn't bad, but came off as having a slightly lower production value than Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (though with much better written stories). The book that started it all, The Last Wish, depicts Geralt of Rivia with much more depth than can be found on television or in a computer game (though the latter does a much better job, in my opinion, of staying faithful to the source material).

Here we are presented a world of magic, superstition, monsters, politics, and even some undercurrents of noir detective mysteries. The dialogue (even translated) is great, and the detail and unfolding of scenes is so richly written that the screen in one's mind sees stunningly choreographed fights and natural dialogue.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone waiting for the next George R. R. Martin installment; anyone lamenting the lack of Robert Jordan novels to be read.
