pg. 38, pretty trippy so far... like: paprika, inception... but published in early 70s!

The gray aliens were quite fascinating; only because they were mysterious.

George Orr, the protagonist, named after George Orwell as an ode to his 1984 novell, was fitting. I can definitely themes of dystopia rendered in the book. The utopian attempts of one man (Haber) trying to shape the world and society through the power of "efffective dreaming" resulted in his own personal dystopia.

Ursala LeGuin's The Lathe of Heaven lost out in 1971-72 Nebula and Hugo balloting but, as far as I'm concerned is far superior to the winners, so you can't always go by the award winners as a reflection of quality. Like Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 this is as near to a perfect novel as they come. It was made into a PBS movie in 1980 and it remains their most requested production. Poorly remade in the 90's by A&E (I've never seen that version but it's not fondly remembered). This book is highly recommended.
