I just finished the book a few minutes. Superb! For all of the adventure and harrowing drama of the biggest portion of the book, I found the last few chapters to be the most moving, the most enthralling. Fawcett was so close! And the Amazon was the home to a monumental culture! I want to read more.

Picked this up for my layin in the sun book :)

I'm almost done with this - what a page turner! My partner has gone on medical missions to the Amazon and says all those horrible insects and parasites are still there doing their nasty thing. Yikes.

A great premise but the book meanders too much in the first half focusing on Fawcett's background and not enough on his famous quest to find El Dorado. The pace picks up in the second half and becomes quite intriguing once the actual mission begins.

This book has done more to keep me out of the South American jungles than any three other things I could name. Every once and a while, I have to put it down, take a breath, and say to myself, "These things actually happened."

Finished this book this morning. Really interesting read. Amazing how obsessed someone can be. I like a little adventure, but you won't find me trudging through the Amazon.

Halfway through and haven't found the Lost City of Z yet. Good read though.

my one fear is mosquitoes so this book is worse to me than any stephen king book out there!

Extremely fascinating book. And kind of disgusting when they get into the maggots burrowing underneath the explorers' skin.

Getting into it as I have time! Great book...wish I didn't have to put it down!

Great adventure/history story. If you like explorers and the like, this is for you.
