Sorry I'm so late to the party! I wish I had read this book when it first came out like so many of the other commentators on this book. Perhaps then I could have been swept up in the freshness of it's ideas and thrilled to by it's cyberpunkness. Alas, I was not. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Neuromancer and highly recommend it, but I didn't get a light from heaven while reading it and it won't change my life. In fact, I was distracted by some rather poor writing in places which made the characters hard to follow, I hope Mr Gibson's writing craft has improved since he wrote this book because I want to tackle more of his work. Neuromancer is a shining example of how great concepts, new and exciting ideas, can cover over the authors less than stellar writing skills.

Ótimo livro, historia envolvente!

A great book by the man that pretty much created the cyberpunk era. Has a little of everything and definitely a must read for any sci fi fan.

Gave birth to the Internet. This is the true Genesis.

On the VERY short list of books I have actually read. Was a long time ago, so don't remember much about it except that it was awesome. Maybe one day I will learn to enjoy reading again :)

Seminal work of cyberpunk

Great book for its time. I still find it enjoyable to read today.

He dreamed up the Internet before it happened. A true visionary.

Look forward to seeing it turned into the 2011 film, directed by Vincent Natali (Cube, Splice). I think he could do the book justice.

A violent slab of cyberpunk sci-fi, in which techie activities (artificial intelligence, hacking, virtual reality) are married with a grimy, anarchic, slangy sensibility, and a cast of hustlers, hackers and junkies trying to make sense of a world ruled by corporations.

Classic that must have inspired of been inspired by Tron.

This novel changed my life. It really did. Before I first read it, in 1989, I was already a writer (for the stage), but not of science fiction. After Neuromancer, though, I felt that I had finally found something really cool, the essence of cool. Neuromancer was the Birth of Cool of Science Fiction. I became a SF writer because of Neuromancer. Blame it on William Gibson.

a seed book.

I was working at with a bunch of geophysicists (read: odd and incomprehensible combo of engineer/artist) in 1986 when my boss appeared with a case of these paperbacks - one for everyone in the office. He'd just finished reading and and was so excited that it was a little creepy... which was just about my evaluation of the book at the time!

I have to admit, though, that a whole lot of the concepts have stuck with me and I find myself referring back to the damn thing repeatedly. Have since re-read and decided that I was just too young and dumb to appreciate it at the time!

Pivotal book for me. Found a remaindered copy in a bin outside my college bookstore. Totally changed the way I thought about accessing knowledge.

The ultimate cyberpunk trip. Gibson (GreatDismal on Twitter) is not the just granddaddy; he's the god. Try out Idoru if you like Neuromancer, too. It's one of his less famous, but it's really very good.

Still as modern as it was then.

My (and many others') introduction to cyberspace, technology -as -fashion accessory, and the whole idea that realities can be created that make no attempt to duplicate our own, and be content to be populated by their own symbols and archetypes, and thus their own unique ways and reasons for interacting (i.e. not just representations of the innards of computer networks). Chaos concealed in tech.

I just finished this book,and wow i never thought id like cyberpunk . this book was truly an immersive read .
