I'd say the biggest flaw was the way it built up the characters and then left them hanging - the judge and the cop fade out of the story for example when they hook up and the reveal about Josie lacked any punch because there wasn't enough page time devoted to her.

              although a very interesting storyline which allows the writer to delve into the mind of a school shooter and the victims, bdfore and sfter the tragedy, the books drags too much. picoult spends too much on details instead of getting to the point. she should take writing lessons from elmore leanord. not sure if I want to read another if her books.

              Just finished reading. Very good book with a nice twist at the end. Picoult is pretty dark in her writing, but her writing ability outshines the depressing tone of her books.
