I am trying to get through this again... I feel like I have the same clashes of personal taste with it as I do with The Walking Dead (seriously, though, what is all the Walking Dead love ABOUT?), but I'm interested to see how the Sci-fi/Horror stuff plays out. I just wish EVERY CHARACTER didn't have to have a 40 page proto-Joyce Carol Oates backstory... Tragedy descends into the maudlin after the third iteration, and I'm on the fifth. That being said, Cronin writes beautifully, and when the plot is looking forward rather than back, it's a compelling read.

Such a brilliant, epic book! I'm still reading through it, but I'm already looking forward to the sequel, The Twelve!

I read this one a few weeks ago, man what an awesome take on a classic monster staple. I'm sure the next one will be fantastic!

Nearly finished and it's got really good again!

After a dull middle, it's really got going again. Around 150 pages to go...

About halfway through and it's sort of slowed right down.

So many other books vying for my attention, yet I find myself rereading this fantastically amazing book! I love it so much, can't wait to read The Twelve!
