Literally laughed out loud on subway, "what do you think this is some sort of Dead Poets Society...and you are, ah, damn, he was Mork and he dressed up as the nanny."

So far, only 6 pages in, seems like a wild ride

I'm really enjoying this so far. I had to pick it up after seeing the title and definitely don't regret it.

This one fell by the wayside as I got involved in other books. I'm going to give it another shot.

I adore this book. It's bright and funny and clever and dark and interesting and I live it's unique voice. The bits about string theory and M theory and the Irish history especially in regard to World War One and Robert Graves and Irish Mythology and Druids and boarding school was fascinating and I loved the different voices of the students and the teachers and I enjoyed loathing the Acting Headmaster.

LOVED this book. It's one of those books that I put off because I didn't think I'd like it despite my love of Irish literature.  I read reviews describing it as "funny" but though I did find it funny and oh so ironic I also found it deeply disturbing.  I was probably disturbed because I'm a mother of young boys.  Think Trainspotting meets Dead Poets Society. Kinda.

Don't normally read books nominated for awards, but 129 pages in and it deserves the plaudits. Some great characters and genuinely funny.
