One of the best books I've ever read. So sad, but triumphant. Zora Neal Hurston writes so gracefully about a light skinned African American girl in the 30s. She went through hell and back trying to find acceptance. I've never seen the movie, but I own the book.

Listened to this one on tape and the reader did a brilliant job-made me laugh out loud several times and cry when Janey lost Teacake.

What a wonderful novel of a woman searching for love!

A women's literature masterpiece!!!! My favorite book! A must read for women of all colors. We lose and find ourselves! We reinvent and love ourselves!
