Determined to finish reading it despite finding it too drab to the last 3 times I tried.

veewi Yes, the story itself makes it worthwhile but there's something about the way it's being told I don't care too much for. Can't really say what. It may just be that I expected more from Eggers having had several of his books recommended to me over the years and knowing the acclaim this book alone received. -
Raw Annie @veewi it can be so disappointing to hear great things about a book that doesn't end up living up to expectations. I think that's one of the reasons I ignore critics/charts & such. And the writing is important GAH! so important! -
veewi The writing's the most important, I think. Even if it's award-winning, if it doesn't able to the reader at hand then... I'm going to stick it out this time though and planning on following it up w/Eggers's A Heartbreaking of Work Staggering Genuis. I'm hoping it'll be better since What is the What is a second person account of an autobiography; not Eggers's usual writing style (from what I've heard).
