Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book tells the story of Max, who one evening plays around his home making "mischief" in a wolf costume. As punishment, his mother sends him to bed without supper.
In his room, a mysterious, wild forest and sea grows out of his imagination, and Max sails to the land of the Wild Things.
Maurice Sendak has passed away! He was 83. I will always love reading this story. I have great memories of reading this to my kids when they were little.
Reading this takes me back to cozy beds and teddy bears, and the wild adventures I was inspired to have. Rest in peace, Maurice, and know generations of children love and miss you.
Reading to the lil cousin. Even though I'm in my early 20's, his stories helped mold my childhood of good memories. I hope my cousin feels the same way one day. RIP Maurice Sendak.
