Got the title from watching Fringe. Going to see how it links up, if there is any similarity. First off the main characters name is Peter... Hmm

I thought it was boring at first but i am falling in love with his writing style. The way he describes things. Determined to finish this by tonight.

I took almost the whole summer to read this! I hope the movie does the book justice. So much imagery... I hope they can capture that in the movie version!

I rarely re-read books. The last time I read this book was 1995 while I was freezing in Madison, WI. I love the way Helprin writes. Very descriptive.

The main character of this story, Peter Lake, has many similarities to the TV series 'Fringe's Peter Bishop, and is it any surprise? Akiva Goldsman joined the writing staff of Fringe during its first season.
Also, a young Olivia Dunham is actually seen reading this book in the episode "Subject 13."
If you are an obsessed Fringie, I would strongly suggest you read this book(even though it's about 700 pages!) It could help you unlock some clues as to what could happen to everyone's favorite dumb, smart guy in Season 4!

Thank you, Fringe (Season Three's Episode "Subject 13") for introducing me to this great book. I'm someplace around the third section and it's both very interesting and touching at the same time. There's also a sense of "Fringe-ness" to the book where Peter Lake is concerned...but that could be just because I'm reading it as a Fringe fan.

I read this @ my hammock on the living room with a cold wind in my face.
