Guru Recommendations

Gurus are the GetGlue users who know popular culture better than anyone else. Today, we are empowering our Gurus to make our entire community better, by recommending related books, movies, music and tv shows.

Related items do not have to be from the same era, genre, or even the same field. Books can be connected to movies, which can be connected to music, which can be connected to any TV show, and so on.

Any related item selected by a Guru is going to stay on the page permanently. So even if you lose Guruship for a hotly contested item, do not worry: the recommendations you made will still appear for other users to enjoy.

Guru Giveaways

Guru Giveaways offer a way of rewarding our most passionate users with hot new releases. They work like this:

For every item we give away, GetGlue compiles a list of dozens of related books, movies, tv shows--whatever best fits with the tone of the item. Gurus of these related items are automatically entered in the drawing to win.

The Giveaway shows up on the new release page and on the all related item pages, so Gurus will not miss it. Drawings will happen regularly, so keep an eye on GetGlue.com for announcements of upcoming giveaways.

Winning Gurus are highlighted on the GetGlue.com homepage, and they are encouraged to promote their winnings by telling their Facebook and Twitter contacts, grabbing a widget or posting the cover on their Glue profile.
