HOLY SHIT. That could be the beginning and end of this review because otherwise I'll go on for days. I've begun the process of deconstructing the lyrics and putting themes together, taking them apart, scrutinizing sound, etc for an honestly epic theorization of Radiohead but here I'll comment on the graceful transitions. I have never listened to an album arranged better than this one. Beginning the album with "2+2=5 (The Lukewarm)" meant listening to the rest of HTTT because the lyrics, mixed with Yorke's eerie voice and the sense of urgency from the layers launched you into the momentum of the album. "The Gloaming (Softly Open our Mouths in the Cold)" is my favorite. The sound serves as an onomonopia for the lyrics. The Gloaming's (twilight's) end was felt after Yorke warned that our alarm bells should be ringing, and que-ed a Twilight Zone-like sound to mark the transition into after-twilight, which I feel articulates the theme well.
