One of Scorsese's most overlooked films, yet one of his fullest expressions of personality: the love of film history permeates every scene, the attraction to destructive talent, all done in a lush, big way. Liza Minnelli and De Niro are a spectacular pair. Also, had no idea that the theme song originated here, and was later made famous by Frank Sinatra; not the other way around. A fantastic work.
