This feels like Broken Social Scene has been passed through a fine filter, extracting something cleaner, purer and more homogeneous. Fans will not be disappointed and it will likely draw in a larger audience. However, I thought it lacked the messy, experimental, sprawling quality that drew me to the band in the first place. Still, hardly a complaint and a definite worthy listen.

Fraser One of my issues with BSS was their experimental sound. I understood that it was part of who they were, but at the same time it felt unfinished and incomplete. Based on this alone I'm off to check out this album!

Jason I'm gonna agree with both of you here...it's definitely smoothed out, but for the most part, I tend towards the poppy side of musical life. This album feels like a different (wonderful) record with every track.
