      Sounds of Silence

This album has some of S&G’s most meaningful songs lyrically. We hear about Simon’s perception on the philosophy of life, running away from heartbreak, turning to God in times of loneliness, and relationships disintegrating in the pattern of the four seasons. Do not be fooled by the few upbeat rhythms and happy folky instruments, they’re actually all extremely depressing songs; it took me a few listens to understand what some of the lyrics actually meant. This album also contains one of my all time favourite songs; The Sound of Silence, words cannot describe how much that song means to me. I have listened and listened, brainstormed and torn the lyrics apart but there are so many beautiful metaphors that could be interpreted every which way, Paul’s dream is beautiful and in the end I will never worship the neon Gods that humanity has created, and brainwashed society into following.
