I'm really disappointed with how they handled Darcy's sub-plot of being raped. They could've made a really strong storyline with it. Instead they made it seem like rape victims become mentally unstable, act out in any situation, and place the blame on a trusting and quite awesome teacher. Not cool. :/

Laura Darcy became unbearable after that. I think they handled Paige's much better. Although I agree, Darcy's was more traumatizing because it's even scarier, but...still.

PValiant How could you people compare Darcy and Paige's rapes? They're both equally horrible and scary. Paige KNEW her attacker, how is that NOT scary?

Jedediah001 @PValiant Nobody said that Paige's rape wasn't horrible or scary. And nobody was really comparing the rapes. If you read my original post, I never mentioned Paige. I just said that they could have portrayed a rape victim in a better light, because what Darcy did on the show after her rape was just horrible. She confided in Snake, and then she said he was the one who raped her. That's completely vile.

PValiant No sweetie, I was talking to Laura. Her comment was comparing Paige and Darcy's rapes.

PValiant I guess I shouldn't have said people but still, she did compare them.

Laura I wasn't comparing their rapes; I was comparing how the show handled them. Which, Paige's was handled more realistically. And I never said her's wasn't scary. They're both horrifying scenarios. I was simply attempting to justify the show's portrayal of Darcy going totally mental afterwards by stating that not knowing your attacker and the randomness of it all would be a little more likely to mess you up IN THAT WAY. I still don't think it was handled well, though.

PValiant "Although I agree, Darcy's was more traumatizing because it's even scarier." Sorry maybe you wrote it wrong but that sounds like you're saying Darcy's was scarier.

Laura I'm honestly not sure what I meant. They're both unfathomably scary, I don't deny that. I agree, they're not really comparable. They're both completely awful. It's just to ME at face value, Darcy's situation would be a little more...brain-addling. Scarier isn't the right word. But knowing myself and how I handle things, I think that would be a little more likely to push me off the deep end. It wouldn't necessarily be more or less traumatizing...they would surface in totally different ways. But I think I would have a harder time trying to act normal afterwards in Darcy's situation. So I see where the show was going with what they did, but I still think it could have been portrayed better.

Does that make any sense? I'm not always the most eloquent at explaining what I mean. I'm certainly not trying to say one rape was worse than another.
