Paulo Freire, affectionately known as the Man with the Gray Beard, managed to write an educational powerhouse that at once both angers and inspires. I attempted to tackle this text in graduate school and found that each page, possibly each paragraph, is worthy of hours upon hours of study. This is the obligatory text for any educator who cares about social justice, critical pedagogy and giving a voice to the voiceless.
