This is simply the greatest album by Belle and Sebastian. However, the live version of it: "If You Are Feeling Sinister: Live At The Barbican", makes it sound awful. Just get that version (it's on iTunes) and give it a listen. Belle and Sebastian played the album live for a series of concerts, and took the concert as an opportunity to 'fix' all that had gone wrong or they hadn't liked about the studio version. One of the most beautiful albums I've heard.

Jason IYFS is a shimmeringly beautiful record indeed (built well off their solid-for-a-school-project debut too). Did not know about the live version (somehow). Thanks for the tip. Not a fan of the Trevor Horn era stuff? (they won me back with those)

Mati Castro Dear Catastrophe Waitress is third on my list, just below the other two. It sounds just as if they'd gotten their sound back. The new stuff isn't bad either, I just haven't gotten myself so much into it, yet.
