Angela Fazio Jeremy Brett will always be Sherlock for me also. He captured the detective so well, because he was him in a way. Manic in his desire to solve the puzzle or crime, compassionate to people in trouble, quick wit, disgusted when people lied to him, devoted to the science of deduction and fiercely loyal to the people he admired / loved, desponded lows and amazing highs. I also love the first Watson, David Burke was a very loyal, smart and kind friend. Fierce in his determination of Holmes to eat and get off drugs. But you can see the friendship between H/W, like two schoolboys. Kind of like Cumberbatch and Freeman. It took some time for me to adjust to Hardwicke as the older Watson , but I love him just as much. Brett took the time and effort, in his love of the stories and the audience to empty himself and become Holmes. Endangering his life and health to give us an enduring legacy. He was an amazing actor. It was a tragedy to lose him so young but he left us his soul in Sherlock.
