Having read Adiga's previous book, The White Tiger, I had high expectations and was looking forward to reading his new one. I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. The book focuses on one character or group of characters per chapter and deals with them in a kind of "day in the life of" format. For me, this meant that the characters I began to care about were disposed of very quickly leaving me frustrated and wanting to know more. Having said that, the book is very well written and was enjoyable, but I just didn't think it was as good as The White Tiger.
