        Scott Mount It has been a while, too long since I last read Moby Dick, but there is so much hidden symbolism in the characters, statements and actions in the book. I read it the first time when I was in what we called grade school, then at least once while in high school and the last time was either in college or just after, and I learn something new each time. it is truly a beautiful and for its time was an important book. It is also based on actual incidents, one just off Chile, and there were other stories that were almost identical and they were actually attributed to the attach on whalers by an albino whale. The belief is that they had a different way of reacting to the attacks on them by the white whales and differences in their brains. I loved the Captain driven insane by his inner torments and his persistence caused by that insanity. The whale, of course he didn't think like humans, but I do believe some animals are disposed to grow more intelligent than humans want to or can make...
