Raymond Rose I agree. There's something off about the New 52 Batman. His youth, his close-mindedness,... something I can't figure out.

rm largent I traded some messages about 'voice' and there is just something off about the 'voice' of some of these characters in the New 52. Granted, I've been away from these books for several years, so that may have something to do with it. I just hope there is some payoff building with the reboot. Superman/Clark feels very 'off' to me, and especially Jonathan Kent in the last Action. But I've gotta say that I really enjoy what I've seen in Aquaman and Lobdell's titles. They actually got me to branch out away from just strictly Batman and Superman books in the DCU.

Christopher Bohne' The higly egotistical "Earth One" style superman that looks like Harry Potter and sez "ain't" bugs the shit outta me. I'm also having trouble with the miss matched timelines represented in Action, Superman, JL, JLI, & JLD... especially because Batman is almost a different "era" of Bats in each title. The JLI one is readily endorsing Booster as leader, but his JL self most certainly wouldn't. And the Green Lantern books feel like they pretty much continue from where they ended during War of the GLs/Flashpoint. We have to keep in mind these books are only completing their 1st arcs and must assume they are going somewhere with it. Remember that with the "strange woman" from the end of Flashpoint appearing in each #1 issue, they are supposed to be "saving 3 timelines" (ie DC, Wildstorm, & Vertigo) and making sure they aren't combined or saved or something... they obviously have some master plan.

rm largent There definitely seems to be some payoff coming in terms of the timeline discrepancies at least with the titles I'm reading - tying together the JL and Superman titles. I don't really see how the Batman is going to play out, possibly through the Owls crossover. I am having a good time reading all these titles though. Really my first foray into new DC books. Been more of a Marvel/X-Men guy.

Raymond Rose Yeah, the whole timeline discrepancy has been bugging me. If JL#1 is 5 years in the past, that makes Batman#1 in the present. At the time of JL#1, Batman is a major thorn in GCPD's side, so that makes him relatively new... So we're supposed then to believe that Batman goes through 3 Robins in the course of 5 years? I go through less shoes in that time period.

Christopher Bohne' I always considered myself a Marvel guy... big Cap, Punisher, Hawkete, MoonKnight, Yellowjacket, Wolvie, Juggernaut, Avengers guy! But lately, Marvel's double shipping multiple titles w/ tons of off shoot low quality minis style business model/slashing diverse titles from their roster is pissing me off. Really loving all 12 titles I've read from the new DC: JL, Action, Superman, -boy, -girl, SwampThing, JLI, JLD, GL, Red Lanterns, GLC, and GL New Guardians, the only one I'll cut so far is Supergirl. I've already stopped buying the 2 Legion titles because that shit is too left field for me and MrTerrific & Static Shock, because those characters are hella boring to me (and don't warrant their own titles over PowerGirl or Lobo or Booster Gold or...).
