Maria Callas was an amazing soprano, perhaps the first singer who understood that singers of Opera were singers but also performers- The life of Callas, or better said, the rumors about her life sometimes hide the fact that she was a hard worker and lately a very good teacher because she also knew about Opera. Prima Donnas were not supposed to have ideas about the staging of the operas in which they perform. Callas dared to discuss with conductors, therefore she was called hysterical, moody, etc. She had the bad luck to fall in love but so was Jackie. Callas died alone but not forgotten. Luckily, she left enough records - some records of live performances - so we can enjoy her interpretations.
