TJ Marx @brinavee My description of different types of apps was in reference to giving a definition as to what I meant by "custom store app", as requested. They were EXAMPLES of specific apps which a specific retailer/financial institute/etc COULD make specific to them. Of those examples however, most are made for iOS products but not for Android. There was at NO time mention of 3rd party generic solutions.
-

TJ Marx @brinavee My statement is more on the side of a business observation as to failed business opportunity than a comment on Android. I use Android and love it.
Android holds a 33.5% market share in Australia whilst iOS only holds around half that. Which means that as a business decision to not cater for Android and only produce iOS apps they're leaving out a third of their potential customers base in favour of a sixth of it. That is to me, insane.
-

TJ Marx @brinavee Also I would like to apologise for coming off cranky.

Sabrina. Climb aboard S.S. Lusty Pirate! TJ: Yeah that is pretty insane! It's sad developers don't give Android very much notice. Here the Apple store has grown to over half a mil apps. Sounds bloated to me, but even though their market share is going down, developers keep pouring money into it.

Sabrina. Climb aboard S.S. Lusty Pirate! Of course they could end up like GG, split into too many directions and unable to maintain the apps they have. Yet still not wanting to scrap what they have. Hence he BB app for GG.

Sabrina. Climb aboard S.S. Lusty Pirate! Good luck, T J & I hope your bank and other local stores and institutions take Android seriously soon, and you have ease-of-use with your apps. It makes life easier for everybody imo. =)

TJ Marx I'm also not really talking so much about mom & pop businesses, they rarely have apps for any platform. In Australia we only have 2 supermarkets nation wide. They make multi-billion dollar profits annually. Both supermarkets have iOS app solutions. Neither have Android app solutions. In Australia we have 4 major banks, each again seeing multi-billion dollar profits annually, all of which again have iOS solutions for their various banking facilities, none of which have Android solutions for ANYTHING. Android users are stuck using the mobile banking website through browser and have no way to pay by touch or with facebook details like iOS customers do.
We have 7 NFC Android phones available in Australia & nowhere useful to use the NFC abilities.
-

TJ Marx Surely when we're talking about retailers with multi-billion dollar annual profits they can afford a few grand to develop a comparable Android app that will cater for a larger percentage of their customer base.

Screw Muggz @tjmarx your really need to become more informed you want to sling insults at people that are going out their way to try to help you out. Real classy dude! Let me try to explain. The market appears different to people in other countries as well as to people on different carriers. Just because you don't see an app on the market does not mean its not in the market. You can get an app called market enabler that will give access to apps available in other countries. And if you can't find apps for stores only based in Australia....then move out your country if its that much of an issue. Also the Android community is soooo helpful that people will try to help you for free with out expecting aything in return. You should be nicer to people trying to help you you never know who is an Android developer that will be willing to start a project for you just because you mentioned a need that they could fix. And from a development stand point, its still easier to make money on IOS for now. I'm a ...

Screw Muggz @brinavee funny and I agree! Gotta get glue and patch the end on lol
-

TJ Marx @taji_abdullah You're trying to "help" someone that not only never asked for it, but didn't say anything that suggested the need for help. Any in so attempting to "help" you consistently use condescending language. Totally classy.
For the record so you aren't further confused I don't need help with anything and I understand how android works. You apparently have no idea what I'm talking about so just leave it alone.
-
-

TJ Marx @taji_abdullah Additionally I'd just like to say I have the android sdk and there is plenty of literature around should I ever feel the need to have an android app developed I would likely do it myself. It's almost as if you expect me to suck up to you just because you suggest that you develope android apps. And where do you get off trying to tell me to move countries because I made an observation about business practices, which extend beyond my country?
You haven't added a single constructive and relevant comment yet.
-

Screw Muggz Yeah, I want you to suck up to me cause I make apps. That's why I told you I do so so late. That comment proves you completely miss the point when I say something so I understand why your still confused. A more intelligent person would have read that I said be nice to people cause people are willing to go out of their way for a stranger. Seeing how you fail to understand or comprehend I will not waist my time on you anymore. Good day to you sir
-

TJ Marx @taji_abdullah lol My point has always been there is nothing for you to go out of your way for. Someone whom actually had some intelligence would have understood my statement in the first place, and certainly after having what I meant by "store app" would have stopped talking about 3rd party generic solutions.
You're ridiculous.
