GetGlue FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions:Using the site & general GetGlue information
What is GetGlue?
GetGlue is a social network for sharing with friends what you’re watching, listening to, or reading. As you check-in to and rate your favorite shows, movies, and music you can unlock rewards, including exclusive stickers. As we get to know your personal tastes, we will show you suggestions based on your preferences, what your friends like, and what’s trending on GetGlue.
You can use GetGlue via the web at http://GetGlue.com or on one of our mobile apps: http://GetGlue.com/apps
What does it mean to Check-in?
Checking-in is how you tell your friends and the GetGlue community about what you're checking out right now. Whether you’re watching your favorite TV show, listening to music, reading a book, playing a video game, or watching a movie, checking-in lets you share with your friends and join the real time conversation.
Finding and Following friends on GetGlue
Following other users on GetGlue is a great way to discover new entertainment. You’ll see your friends’ check-ins, comments, and other activity right on your home page stream. To follow a user, visit their profile page and click the Follow button on the right, just below their picture.
Find Friends - Have more fun on GetGlue by finding your real life friends using Twitter, Facebook, and email. Just head over to the Who to Follow tab of your Friends page (http://getglue.com/who_to_follow) and select the method you want to use to find them. Note: By linking your Facebook or Twitter account, you will automatically follow your friends from those sites who are already on GetGlue.
Who to Follow - We suggest great users for you to follow based on your tastes and friends in common in the “Who to Follow” sections, found on the right side of your home page and on a tab on your Friends page.
Unfollow anyone you’ve changed your mind about by mousing over the “Following” button on the right side of their profile page and clicking “Unfollow.”
Block anyone you want to prevent from following you from their profile page on the bottom of the right sidebar.
What are stickers? How do I unlock them?
As you do certain things on GetGlue you will be rewarded with a variety of stickers for your achievements. They're a cool way for you to display to other GetGlue-ers the entertainment you love. While some stickers are easily unlocked, others are more mysterious and require you to figure out how to unlock them. Some are only unlocked by checking-in on a specific day during a specific time--these stickers are limited and will not be available outside of this window. You will be prompted to order your free, physical copies once you’ve unlocked 20 stickers.
Specials
Some stickers you unlock may have associated specials or rewards provided by our partners. Examples include a discount on merchandise or an opportunity to win a free item in a drawing. If you are eligible for the reward you will be notified by an application screen or by email. In order to claim some rewards, you may need to provide your mailing address, which may be shared with a partner in order to fulfill your prize. It is entirely up to you to claim and/or use the reward if you end up winning.
What is a Guru?
GetGlue identifies users that are especially passionate about specific items by awarding them the title of “Guru”. Guru is awarded to the user who has the richest level of interaction for the given item based on a point system. Each item can only have one Guru, so you’ll need to work for the honor and be vigilant: other eager users can steal the title at any time!
Gurus are featured on the item’s page and have the privilege of adding recommended items to that page.
How do I become a Guru?
The Guru is identified by a point system that rewards high quality reviews and interaction level. Once you review an item you are eligible to be the Guru. Points are then awarded when other members of the GetGlue community vote on your review (Agree/Cool/Funny) as well as for your interactions with the item. The individual with the most points for the item is its Guru.
Privacy
See GetGlue's Privacy Policy.
What does it mean to set my profile to Private?
Setting your profile to Private makes it visible only to individuals who request permission to follow you and you specifically approve. The default privacy setting (not private) allows you to publicly share all of your check-ins, ratings, and activity with the community. You always have the option to block specific users from following you, whether your profile is set to Private or not. Private profiles are not eligible to be the Guru of any pages.
You can adjust your account’s Privacy setting at: getglue.com/settings/preferences.

How do I unsubscribe or get less email notifications?
You can control which emails you receive from us in the preferences section of the Settings page at: http://getglue.com/settings/preferences. Remember to click “Save” at the bottom of the page.
I forgot my password and need help logging in.
Request a temporary password here: http://getglue.com/email/password.
After you log in, please change your password back to one you will remember on the Password tab of the Settings page: getglue.com/settings/password. Remember that passwords are case sensitive and make sure there are no extra spaces before or after your username and password when you enter them.
Not seeing our email? Make sure it’s not in your spam folder.
Can I change my username?
There is no way to change your GetGlue username or the URL of your profile. You can, however, change your display name at: http://getglue.com/settings. In the “Name” field, enter the name you would like to show up on your posts and remember to click the “Save” button.
How do I change my profile picture?
Access the Picture tab of the settings page at: http://getglue.com/settings/picture. Select a new picture either by browsing the files on your computer (click “Browse”) or pasting in the URL of where it is located online (click “type in a URL”). Once you have entered or selected the location of your image, click “Upload.” Your new picture will upload and replace your old profile picture.
If you’ve taken these steps and are not seeing your new image (or uploading appears to be stuck), try clearing your browser’s cache and refreshing the page.
Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Tumblr: Managing connections and what gets shared
Visit your Preferences page at http://getglue.com/settings/preferences and scroll down to the Services section to connect or disconnect your Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Tumblr accounts.
At the top of that page you can adjust what gets shared automatically. In addition, you always have the option to control if and where individual check-ins are shared. If you do not want a check-in to be posted to a certain network, be sure to uncheck the appropriate icon box(es) upon checking-in. At this time, you can only share to Tumblr from the desktop website, not from the mobile apps or site.
Add your current location to any check-in from a mobile app by clicking the Foursquare icon when you are checking-in.
Is there a way to report spam on the site?
Using the website, go to the profile page of the alleged spammer and click the “Report spam” link towards the bottom of the right side of the page.
I signed up with my Twitter account but don’t see that as a login option on the app. How do I sign in?
Logging in with Twitter is not an option on the mobile apps at this time. If this is how you signed up, please use the Forgot password link (http://getglue.com/email/password) to generate a password. Enter the email address associated with your Twitter account when submitting the request. You will be emailed your username and temporary password to log in with.
Stickers
How do I order physical copies of my stickers?
Once you’ve unlocked 20 stickers you can request to have your stickers mailed to you for free! Stickers can be redeemed on the Stickers tab of your Profile page on the website only. We send 20 stickers at a time, the amount that a lil' old stamp can carry.
A "Mail me my stickers" banner at the top of your Stickers page provides information on when you can submit your next request. When you become eligible a link to "Request your stickers now" will appear. Clicking that link will open the request form. Currently you can only place a sticker order on the website.
After 30 days have passed, you will be eligible to request your next batch of 20, as long as you have unlocked another 20 stickers. They will be sent out in the order they were unlocked on GetGlue.
Just keep an eye on the "Mail me my stickers" banner to know when you can request your next batch.
How long do sticker orders usually take to arrive?
Physical sticker batches are generally received within 4 to 8 weeks from the date the request is placed.
Can I choose which stickers get sent?
It is not possible to select the stickers for your order. Stickers are mailed in batches of 20 based on the order you unlocked them on GetGlue.
Do I have to pay for my stickers?
Nope. We send out physical copies of your stickers, in batches of 20, for free.
Can I delete stickers from my account?
There is no way to delete stickers from your account. Stickers represent your accomplishments on GetGlue -- be proud!
Can I get a batch of stickers reprinted or resent?
At this time there is no way to get a batch of stickers reprinted.
Can I track my sticker order? What should I do if I think my sticker order is lost?
Sticker orders cannot be tracked at this time. Please keep in mind that they can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks to arrive.
Didn't get your stickers in the mail? Well, hopefully the person who received them instead enjoys them. We currently don't have a way to track orders. The best thing is to request your next batch of stickers when you can!
What should I do if a specific sticker has not unlocked for me?
Some stickers are trickier to earn than others -- in any scenario we don't provide hints on how to unlock them. In some situations there are legitimate issues with unlocking stickers. In these situations the sticker will appear in your profile once we fix the glitch.
