The year the movie was released was 1992. During the grunge period. The characters? Gen-Xers. The setting? Seattle. In a horseshoe shaped apt complex.
The whole time I was watching "Singles" I was thinking, I can't believe I've never seen this cameron crowe movie before.
The fact that Jeremy Priven, Tim Burton, Eric Stoltz and Paul Giamatti have cameo roles also makes the movie that much more awesome. (Giamatti is involved in a heavy make out sesh and his only line is "What?").
Funny how we have those odd things we look for that will make us feel like "s/he is it". Like saying bless you (really??) and opening the driver's car door before there were power door locks. Also amusing was what we do with objects exes leave behind. Like my old roommate who would use the ex's toothbrush as a toilet scrubber.
I recommend this movie just to see a balding Jeremy Priven and Eric Stoltz play an awesome mime. Total guilty pleasure.
