Heather Moore I am also someone who works in the system with these kids, and can tell you that therapy is substantially more expensive than going the medication-route, esp given that there's already a financial obligation to provide these kids with Medicaid...basically, behavior-modifying medication is lumped into existing costs, as opposed to providing additional funds for individual and family therapy. Said lack of fiscal appropriation also leads to unpaid graduate interns over-whelmingly providing services, as opposed to seasoned professionals, respectively. Largly a bureaucratic issue.
