Born July 5, 1963, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Edith "Edie" Falco studied at the prestigious Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film and supported her acting dream by taking on any odd assignment she could -- including dressing up as a gigantic Cookie Monster. She eventually hit her stride playing tough-talking women in films such as Cop Land (1997) and scored her first major film role acting alongside Harrison Ford and Kristin Scott Thomas in Random Hearts (1999). But it was her portrayal of New Jersey mob wife Carmela Soprano in the hit HBO drama series "The Sopranos" that made Falco a household name, earning her three Emmys, two Golden Globes and three Screen Actors Guild awards.A breast cancer survivor, Falco continues to take on acting projects both onstage and in front of the camera, including a significant role in Freedomland (2006) opposite Julianne Moore and Samuel L. Jackson.
Loved her as Carmella. My bf makes fun of her accent and how she was always nagging everyone....(in her NY accent) "Tony....what are ya doing in the basement"
