A television icon whose all-American good looks and feathered 'do helped make her one of the hottest sex symbols of the 1970s, Farrah Fawcett was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Feb. 2, 1947. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she met and married Lee Majors, star of "The Six Million Dollar Man."Although Fawcett's first major film role in Myra Breckinridge (1970) was a critical flop, a popular pinup that showed off the blond actress's assets in a skimpy one-piece set her on course for major stardom.

Despite a résumé of Emmy-nominated roles in television movies such as The Burning Bed (1984) and Small Sacrifices (1989), Fawcett is best known as one of the three original "Charlie's Angels" -- even though she was only a series regular for one season.In 2006, Fawcett began what would become a painful and public battle with cancer, an ordeal documented in the news special "Farrah's Story." She finally succumbed to the disease on June 25, 2009.
