A pop star who lived up to his last name by singing low harmonies in the Grammy-nominated boy band 'N Sync, Lass Bass was born in Laurel, Miss., on May 4, 1979. As a child, he aspired to work for NASA. But Bass also explored his love for singing by performing with the Mississippi Show Stoppers and other competitive music groups.Bass joined 'N Sync in the mid-1990s while he was still in high school and became a teen idol with the group's release of chart-topping hits such as "Tearin' Up My Heart," "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me." He later tried his hand at acting in On the Line (2001), a film he co-produced, co-starring with fellow bandmate Joey Fatone.Bass made headlines in 2002 when he announced his intention to train as a cosmonaut and fly in a Russian space capsule, although the project never got off the ground.
He also appeared as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2008.
