I like Matt Dillon a hell of a lot, but I’m only a true fan of his work in the 80s, anything outside I have little interest in. Back then in 10 short years he played an array of adolescent focused roles that went right across the board in terms of proving how talented he was. With the trinity of S.E. Hinton’s masterworks; Tex, Rumble Fish and The Outsiders, I’m clueless as to how he wasn’t nominated for anyone of three roles. I think Coppola brought out the star in him as he soon went on to produce great pictures like Kansas, and a personal love of mine Target with Gene Hackman. A very very interesting and unique character, I wish he’s kept it up over the years.

Grew up watching him. Outsiders and little darlings.
