Monico Hernandez it's kinda easy, I guess, back then to only see how people's minds would be controlled by the monetary value to almost anything when everything is given to us to do what we please. It's too bad that the people with connections are given power over others to let them do what they want therefore are taking for granted what they feel is right for they're own sake. It is really sad that the wealth of this nation is truly only for those that have the most money and CAN speak for themselves that's why they can not be touched. But, no I haven't read the book at all.

Mari Adkins that's really not what i was going after @monico. i was thinking more on the lines of his remark in 2001 about the population hitting 6 billion before 2001 - and here at the end of 2011, it hit 7 billion, and yes we're running out of room to grow our food. also, floyd was reading newspapers from an electronic newspaper reader. the description sounds an awful lot like a cross between a kindle fire and an ipad to me.
if you've not read the books (the first there; even clarke said the fourth one was folly), then you're really missing out on a wealth of knowledge. -
Monico Hernandez sorry for that last reply I guess my issues with this social life we all live in has got the best of me. But, it does bring a good point as far as how Mr. Clarke look really close to the future and as it turns out we just make it all true whether it's good or not.

Unbelievable, a movie from the '60 and it's very good, I'm impressed. But every spaceship doesn't seems to need thrust power and the have gravity on the moon :) I am very curious about the whole story

Mari Adkins @davidvoderberg - i think that somewhere, if i'm remembering right, clarke said himself he wasn't happy with 3001.
also, your love of this series reminds me of mine with babylon 5. i guess the 2001 series comes in a close second, even if it's a different medium. :)
