I'm marveling at how well made this film is given that it was made for a few hundred thousand dollars and was shot on location in Peru. I enjoy today's movies with their digital effects but it's wonderful to see a film with no effects, shot with one camera and often with just one take because Herzog didn't have the chance to have more than one shot. If you are film buff, I can highly recommend this movie. I decided to watch it because I've been learning about Latin American history in advance of a trip to Peru this December. If you get the DVD, Werner Herzog does a commentary which I enjoyed and listening to the commentary gave me a much deeper appreciation for the film.
