F. Murray Abraham earned a Best Actor Oscar for his imperious performance as Antonio Salieri, a mediocre composer whose churlish young rival, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce), wins immortality with his musical genius. Not happy to see his talent eclipsed, Salieri dons a disguise and deviously plots revenge, obsessed with muffling Mozart's maddening laughter.
Milos Forman's masterful drama also won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director.
Heard the song Rock Me Amadeus & so I wanted to watch this... Hadn't seen it in years, since I was a kid. The costumes were gorgeous! Music wonderful of course. Liked it a lot!

Netflix instant. Scratching another classic off my list of movies to see. This is a beautifully, well written story of a man dealing with the torture of his own mediocrity in the presence of pure genius. Great actors taking great material to create a cinematic symphony of brilliance. Overall this has to be seen at some point as a film fan.
One of the 1001 films you ought to watch before you die. The incredible story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, told in flashback mode by Antonio Salieri - now confined to an insane asylum.
