It is said that there's nothing worse than the loss of a son or daughter. In times of war, parents see their children die; in times of peace the children suffer the loss of their parents. I've just lost my beloved Father and can't even think about the pain my Mother would experience were I to die before her--- and I almost have done. I don't know how on Earth I might survive her passing. Surely I'll follow her... This film brings all these ideas to mind. What a jewel of a film. Elizabeth McGovern was amazing. Miles apart from her Downton Abbey character. All other actors performed brilliantly as well. Sad, very sad film. Very much worth watching.

Really great cast. Sad story, but the acting is great - especially Thomas Dekker's performance.

So sad but very well done. If you are in the mood for a drama about the repercussion of the loss of a child, watch it. If not wait until you can handle it and watch it then. Excellent portrayal.
