Really enjoyed The Bang Bang Club. Born in South Africa, the movie deftly handed the complexity of identity, culture, & politics there. Ryan Phillippe delivers a good performance as a combat photographer documenting the tensions in the lead up to the first election after the end of Apartheid. An exciting movie to watch that'll leave you asking some hard questions about how we treat our fellows.

Nolatari Once the movie got going I was okay with their accent work. Not stellar, but neither was so awful that it stood out horribly from the native speakers. Philippe, though, sounded more English-by-way-of-South-Africa. Nonetheless, I was still thoroughly engaged in the movie, and that was a pleasant surprise.

My thesis has a lot to do with the Apartheid regime in SA. I highly rec this movie focusing on the perspective of photojournalists.
