This is one of Burton's "lighter" films - although it's still packed with meat, symbolism, and colorful characters. Albert Finney is brilliant in everything he touches, and although I'm not usually a Ewan McGregor fan, he's great in this.

At the first viewing, I wasn't really sure if I liked it or not - but it definitely stuck with me, and I kept thinking about it. So I rented it again, and really enjoyed it a lot the second time through. It's highly quirky and different, which is part of why I like it so much. All the crazy characters and wacky adventures are fun, and the whole film has such a sense of mystery and wonder to it, sort of an adult fairy tale. The message, and particularly the ending, are extremely moving - I always cry, but they're happy tears. May be the most emotionally touching Burton film to date.

I don't think this is Burton's lightest film. It's actually my favorite. I understand it as an ode to fiction: lies don't really matter, as long as they're told to support a great story.

Not your typical Burton film. This movie is sweet and kind of an off center Field of Dreams in that the son and father finally come to terms with each other. Everyone I've ever urged to watch this has loved it. Great movie.

A surprising side of Tim Burton. Big Fish put a play on what is real and what we like to see as real; a magical story of childish fantasies against common sense and how they find a middle ground. One of the things I love most about it is the way the film is broken up into the surrealistic and fantastic past, with the normalized and rational present, while having both shown through the same lens.A really beautiful and emotionally skilled film on screen and in story. I recommend this to anyone who have reservations about growing up :D

Not so much

Big fish was the biggest piece of pretentious hipster shit to ever spew out of. Tim burtons crazy ass. The effects were cool but the fish ending made me hate this movie and and his craZy haircut

Despite it being a Burton film, I could not stand Big Fish the first time I saw it. I gave it another chance..and another. And soon found myself loving this movie. I guess it just took a while for me to warm up to it.

By far one of my favorite movies ever. Great scenery and cinematography with a great story. Very original.
