Essential entry in David Lynch's filmography. Kyle Maclachlan is the roguish and entirely too curious Jeffrey, whose discovery of a human ear in a field leads him down into the seedy underbelly of small-town America. Dennis Hopper is amazing as Frank...the guy just lets it all loose. Like a nightmare come alive, Lynch goes all put with the dark side of human sexuality and intimacy...and what happens when the animal gets loose. Doesn't always make sense in the moment, but clicks together in the overall.

Lynch was wise to cut that 50 minutes from the film - it would have really bogged down the film, especially the other "acts" at the Slow Club, and the scene at Sandy's house when Jeff is having dinner with her family and Mike. Did enjoy Aunt Barbara's termite scene though.
